The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the Pittsburgh Pirates for Game one of their three-Game set this Monday night from Dodger Stadium on SNLA.
Pirates Betting Preview
Pittsburgh comes in at 39-44 after dropping two of three to Milwaukee. The Pirates couldn’t follow up their walk off victory, and they’ll look to avoid skidding further here in LA. The Pittsburgh offense is scoring 4.11 runs per Game, while batting .243, with a .321 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.34 ERA, with a 1.39 WHIP. Andrew McCutchen came thru in the clutch against his former team in Game one, and he’s leading the Pirates in batting (.278), with 10 HR and 28 RBI. Carlos Santana matched his energy with a walkoff bomb, and after recording multiple hits in four of the last six Games, he’s posting splits of .245/9/43. Bryan Reynolds returned in the series finale versus Milwaukee, and he leads Pittsburgh in hits (72), with 40 RBI.
Mitch Keller (9-3, 3.34 ERA, 118 Ks) will pitch for Pittsburgh. The fifth-year pitcher got back into the win column with a good outing against San Diego last week, striking out five, while containing them to one run in six innings pitched. Keller appears to have put a strong stretch of play behind him, but this may be a challenging spot at Dodger Stadium. Keller did handle his first matchup with Los Angeles very well at home back in April during his hot opening to the season, tossing ten strikeouts in six full innings, while holding them to two runs en route to a Pirates win. Expecting him to replicate that performance in LA would be a lot, but the tape shows there is a chance he may be able to hold his own.

Dodgers Betting Preview
Los Angeles moved to 46-37 after dropping two of three to Kansas City. The Dodgers let bettors down in an interleague battle of blues over the weekend, and they’ll look to respond abruptly here. The Los Angeles offense is scoring 5.04 runs per Game, while batting .231, with a .326 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.24 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP. Freddie Freeman has produced a run in five of the last seven Games, and he leads LAD in BA (.315) and hits (104), with 14 HR and 54 RBI. Mookie Betts has doubled in four straight contests, and he now leads the team in home runs (22) and RBI (56). J.D. Martinez has 19 homers, and he’s tied with Betts for the team-lead in RBI at 56.
Clayton Kershaw (10-4, 2.55 ERA, 105 Ks) will make the road start for Los Angeles. The longtime Dodgers lefty added another strong outing at Coors to his resume, tossing six scoreless innings, while holding the Rockies to just one hit. Kershaw just completed one of his strongest months in recent memory, and when you actually take a moment to consider just how long he’s been at the top of the Game, it’s nothing short of impressive. Naturally, his velocity is down, but his command and composure remain as strong as ever. The 3x Cy Young winner has a real chance to add another one with a strong second half of the season. Kershaw went 4-0 in June, and he’s delivered five straight quality starts.
Pittsburgh vs Los Angeles Trends
Pittsburgh is 38-43 against the spread this season, with a 32-46-3 O/U record. Los Angeles is 43-39 against the spread this season, with a 46-31-5 O/U record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Tough weekend’s for both squads after having emphatic Game one victories spoiled, and we could be in for a showcase on the mound here in Game one. Clayton Kershaw is a baseball treasure, and any time he gets to go at Dodger Stadium, he’s worth your trust. After sticking with LAD at home back in April, Mitch Keller may also come out with some confidence. The Under may be in play, but when you consider that the Dodgers are coming home after a pair of losses to the lowly Royals, they’ll have a little extra motivation here. Los Angeles has the ingredients for a win here, let’s back them in Game one.
